Paris Weekend Break
Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Resort Paris has all of the magic that you will find in its sister resorts in Florida and California and, if the weather is warm and sunny, it is hard to beat. It also has the massive advantage that you do not have to spend 9 hours on a plane in order to visit it.
How to get to Disneyland Paris
The resort is located 19 miles east of Paris and has the main Disneyland Park, the Disney Studios, plus seven hotel complexes and a golf course. In short everything that you would want from and expect of the Disney organisation.
You can reach the resort
- By car, on the A4 motorway
- by train, directly from Charles de Gaulle or Orly airport
- From Paris city centre, by direct train with a duration of 35 minutes.
How much it costs
To enter Disneyland Paris you by a ticket called a “passport” (i.e. a passport t the magical world of Disney).
In Disneyland Paris passports fall in to two categories, low season and high season with obvious price implications. A passport can be purchased for a duration of 1, 2 or 3 days in length and allows access to all of the rides and attractions within the resort. Passports are also classified as adult or child.
At high season, a one day pass costs approximately 20 pounds per adult and 16 pounds per child. A three day pass is in the region of 52 and 40 pounds respectively. Actual prices are of course in euros.
You can purchase your Disney passports at the resort when you arrive or, if you are in the UK, at any Disney store.
What the resort offers
In keeping with classic Disney tradition, hotels are cleverly themed and there are villa resorts as well for those wanting more independence.
In the early days of what was then Euro Disney, the resort had major teething problems and almost went "bust", but today things are very different. The 1992 park was re-branded many years ago and the standards of service and facilities have been radically improved.
The number of rides and hotels have increased and the resort now has an impeccable reputation and monumental visitor numbers.
Should you add Disneyland Paris to your weekend break
The answer is no, but only because a weekend is not long enough.
If you intend to visit Paris for a week or more and you have never experienced Disney’s magic, you really should give it a try.
Most people who have not experienced one of the Disney resorts always have a sceptical attitude towards them and I simply do not know why.
Of all the attractions, resorts, rides and monuments on the planet, a Disney theme park is the one that really does have something for everyone. The parks are so large and varied and the variety of attractions so mystifying that if you cannot find something that pushes your buttons, now is the time to give up on life.
If you do decide to enjoy that magic of Disneyland Paris, do not sell the experience short. Give yourself at laest two and better still three day to saok it all up.
